Q: Did Sally tell you if she was going to the party?

  1. I’m not sure if I’ll go or not.
  2. She said she would go if she felt better.
  3. It’s at 8:00, right?

Who is the woman ?

  1. She is a cook.
  2. She is a cooker.
  3. She is an engineer.

Q: This problem will have to be _______ or it will become even worse.

  1. looked
  2. looked into
  3. looking
  4. looking into

W: How was the restaurant where you ate last night?
M: The food was quite good, but the prices are outrageous.
W: I know. It’s getting more and more difficult to find a restaurant that has both good food and reasonable prices these days.

Question: What does the man think of the restaurant?

  1. He thinks the food is good and the price is reasonable.
  2. He is not satisfied with either the food or the price.
  3. He thinks the food is good but expensive.
  4. He does not like the food

The prices are “outrageous”

My friend, Mike, complains a lot. If it is not about the weather, then he’s usually grouching about Taipei’s traffic, the economy, or his job at the post office. —A— the past SARS epidemic, he was unhappy about measures the government —B— taking.
“I don’t see why we have to have our temperatures taken so often,” he said.
“If one has a fever, one needs to —C— quarantined,” I answered.
“Just because someone has a fever doesn’t mean they have SARS.”
“We have a saying, Mike. Better safe than sorry,” I told him.
Mike, however, wasn’t finished. “Well then, why do we have to wear masks on the MRT, —D— when research shows that they do not protect us?” Mike asked.
“Mike,” I replied, “I see your point. But about 75% of sicknesses are psychological. If people believe they’re going to get sick, then often they do.” A half-smile came across Mike’s face.
“All right. I won’t say anything more. If the masks make people more comfortable, I —E— we should give them what they want.”

A(1).While  (2).Towards  (3).During  (4).As soon as
B(1).is  (2).was  (3).were  (4).are
C(1).have  (2).make  (3).do  (4).be
D(1).moreover  (2).indeed  (3).especially  (4).furthermore
E(1).suppose  (2).complain  (3).predict  (4).confess

A. While和as soon as後面都要接子句,因此選項1和4都被淘汰掉。

When I was waiting for the traffic light, a lady, my elementary school classmate-Yo-yo, came to address me. It was such an astonishment. We have not seen each other for ten years. She is much slenderer than she was; no wonder, I was not able to recognizer her at the first sight then.

Boy, Betty, you’re looking fit these days! What’s your secret?

  1. I try to take good care of myself and exercise often.
  2. I can still fit into my old clothes even after all these years.
  3. I don’t think I am fit to be a secretary.
  4. I have spent a lot of money on some new outfits for work.

What’s your secret?”

M: Is that an engagement ring on your finger?
W: It sure is. It’s beautiful, don’t you think?
M: It’s exquisite. And look at the size of that diamond. It really sparkles in the sun. So tell me, Karen, when are you tying the knot?
W: The wedding ceremony is set for June 12th. I hope you can come.
M: I wouldn’t miss it for anything in the world. Have you decided on where you’re going on your honeymoon?
W: Paris. It’s like a dream come true.

Question: What’s going to happen on June 12th?

  1. The woman is going to get engaged.
  2. The woman is going to buy a wedding ring.
  3. The woman is going to go to Paris for business.
  4. The woman is going to get married.

In this company‚ staff normally retire at the age of sixty-five. Mr. Wang _______________ last year‚ but he wants to keep working for at least another five years.

  1. must have retired
  2. could have retired
  3. should have retire
  4. would have been retire

  • Might
  • May
  • Would + have + pp =
  • Could
  • Should

Ex. I should have brought an umbrella before I left my house.
